Parody Trailers: ‘The Oscar-Winning Boston Movie’ And ‘Riverdale’

First up, The Oscar-Winning Boston Movie, which mashes together ideas from The Departed, The Town, The Fighter, Good Will Hunting and many more. (And that Whitey Bulger reference is one for the real hometown kids.)[via TheHighDefinite]

There’s only one city with this much Oscar-worthy drama, and it ain’t New York. From the people who brought you “The College Town” comes Boston’s ultimate story of crime, boxing, child-losing, bank robbing and equation solving.

And then there is Riverdale, which advertises a non-existent take on Archie in which Jughead is dealing with his sexuality, sexual politics are explicit rather than implied, and drugs and steroids pervade Riverdale High. The use of Clint Mansell’s main theme for Requiem For a Dream should immediately clue you in to the fact that this is the fake David Fincher version of Archie, but the entire trailer will soon drive the point home with all the subtlety of a jackhammer. (Or with all the subtlety of Betty and Veronica making out.) And it’s still pretty funny.

Riverdale was produced with the help of almost 100 Craigslist volunteers from the Vancouver film industry. We produced this and the 10 other comedic videos on a budget of $3, 500 over a weekend. The Craigslist and random nature of this production brought the director and his girlfriend together. It also united the executive producer’s wife with her long lost friend/boyfriend when she recognized him playing the character of Moose.
Produced by Point Blank Creative, written by Cross Eyed Bear Comedy and directed by Andrew de Villiers.
