Oblivion is shooting now and was just moved to April 2013 in order to be one of the first summer movies out of the gate....

Mike Newell Directing New Version Of ‘Great Expectations’ By Russ Fischer/Feb. 7, 2011 2:00 pm EST Mike Newell will follow up Prince of Persia, not quite a modern classic, with a new take on a genuine classic and perennial enemy of disinterested English classes across America. He’ll direct a new version of Great Expectations as part of a year-long celebration of the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens’ birth, in 2012.THR says the BFI is putting together “the largest ever retrospective of film and television adaptations of Dickens’s work which will go on a global tour in 2012 taking in the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Cinematheque Francaise in Paris....

What if garden gnomes came to life when people aren’t around kind of like the toys in Toy Story. The idea is to use this concept to introduce Shakespeare’s classic Romeo and Juliet to kids. The film appears to go wrong is in the execution. The computer animated film has a very Dreamworks vibe to it, complete with unfunny popculture references....

LucasFilm has announced a special event to celebrate the end of the original Star Tours ride: “an out of-this-world, first-of-its-kind decommissioning party before Star Tours launches its final flights.” StarWars.com confirms that the new attraction “will take voyagers — for the first time ever — to Coruscant, as well as other destinations in the Star Wars galaxy....

VOTD: ‘Inception’ In Real-Time Split Screen By Peter Sciretta/Dec. 6, 2010 6:00 am EST Youtube user Weikang decided to edit a four and a half minute cut of Christopher Nolan’s Inception which plays Yusuf’s dream, Arthur’s dream, Eames’ dream, and Cobb in Limbo simultaneously using split screens with adjustments for time dilation. I’m not sure if the resulting video gives any more insight into the film, but it’s an interesting experiment....
