Cool Stuff Pixar Styled Ghostbusters

Cool Stuff: Pixar-Styled ‘Ghostbusters’ By Peter Sciretta/June 23, 2011 12:00 pm EST In February I e-mailed Italian graphic artist Fabrizio Fioretti about a couple Ghostbusters images I had seen floating around the internet forums. The images were created in 3D, and can only be described as a Pixar-like adaptation of the Ghostbusters characters we know and love. Check out the designs after the jump. Fioretti told me that there were “no particular reasons” why he decided to create CGI versions of the Ghostbusters other than being “a big fan and I haven’t seen anybody doing it (in CG) so far…” Here is an excerpt from my e-mail conversation with Fioretti:...

James Bond Screenwriters Hired To Pen Action Thriller Set In West Africa By Russ Fischer/Aug. 18, 2010 8:53 am EST In the absence of any news on the James Bond front, take this story as a substitute: Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who wrote Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, have been hired to write an original action thriller that might have vague Bond-like overtones. It also has a more serious, political bent, which could make for an interesting combination....

Joss Whedon In Final Negotiations To Direct The Avengers By Russ Fischer/April 13, 2010 12:48 pm EST On April Fool’s Day, IESB had the bad timing to report that Joss Whedon was on the shortlist to direct The Avengers for Marvel. Really bad timing for that scoop — while Whedon is the sort of guy a lot of fans would like to see on this film, there was too much reason to be skeptical when it ran on April 1....

Kevin Tancharoen’s ‘The Hunger Games’ Pitch Trailer: This Is How Filmmakers Pitch Movies To Studios [/Film Exclusive] By Peter Sciretta/Sept. 6, 2012 9:00 am EST The reason is simple. If the pitch gets bought, we’ll see the final movie. If it isn’t, weeks and weeks of hard work, sometimes even paying out of pocket for test footage, animatics, custom created logos and voiceovers, is all for naught. Creating these pitches is not just time consuming; it can get expensive and pretty disheartening....

Mark Wahlberg To Officially Produce Non-Poe ‘The Raven;’ Ricardo De Montreuil To Direct ‘Lowriders’ By Germain Lussier/Dec. 8, 2010 7:00 am EST Considering The Raven is so well-known as a poem by Edgar Allen Poe, one would think using those two words as a title would be off the market. Unless, of course, you were actually making a movie about the famous macabre author. That’s not the case, however, as Mark Wahlberg has locked down a deal with Universal to produce and possibly star in a feature length adaptation of a short film by Ricardo De Montreuil also called The Raven....

Mission Impossible 4 To Be Reworked

Mission: Impossible 4 To Be Reworked? By Peter Sciretta/July 13, 2010 7:00 am EST Last month it was reported that Alias’ scribes Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec had turned in their script for the Brad Bird-directed Mission: Impossible 4, but would the box office for Cruise’s action/comedy Knight and Day effect the upcoming spy action sequel? Knight and Day pulled in a mildly disappointing $61.8 million domestically after a month of release, and it now appears that Paramount might be reworking the script to introduce “a young operative” for Ethan Hunt to mentor (ie another, more bankable star, to put on the poster and sell in tv spots and trailers)....
