Wes Craven Says ‘Scream 5’ Likely To Happen By Angie Han/Sept. 28, 2011 9:30 am EST Scream 4 was enough of a box-office disappointment when it opened this spring that it seemed to curtail all the rumors about it being the first of a new Scream trilogy. But like its plucky heroine Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), the Scream franchise isn’t one to die easily. The fourth installment ultimately ended up pulling in about $97 million worldwide on a $40 million budget, apparently enough that director Wes Craven is now saying that a Scream 5 is very likely to happen....

‘Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Sequel Gets A New Writer By Germain Lussier/May 15, 2012 2:00 pm EST According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be “taking the story to the next level, with the apes on the path to emerge as society’s new rulers.” That seems all but obvious considering where Rise of the Planet of the Apes ended up. Caesar, played in performance capture by Serkis, will likely be the star of this film once again....

‘Splice’ Director Vincenzo Natali To Make Reverse Ghost Story ‘Haunter’ Next? By Angie Han/Jan. 7, 2012 2:27 pm EST Vincenzo Natali’s 2010 genetic experimentation sci-fi horror Splice didn’t do great box office when it opened in 2010, but it got enough critical buzz to boost the filmmaker’s profile. That, in turn, opened up some intriguing new options for him, including adaptations based on J.G. Ballard’s High Rise, William Gibson’s cyberpunk classic Neuromancer, and the YA series Tunnels, and we’ve been very curious to see what he’ll do next....

‘The Curse Of The Buxom Strumpet’ Casts Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, Gillian Anderson By Russ Fischer/May 18, 2011 9:44 am EST Titles can be everything, and The Curse of the Buxom Strumpet is possibly the most eye-catching film title I’ve seen this week. But is it the best title for a zombie movie, especially one that stars Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, and Gillian Anderson? That I can’t say (even after seeing Judi Dench cameo as a sort of buxom almost-strumpet in Pirates of the Caribbean) but for a film that seems to be cut from the same cloth as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, one could probably do worse....
