Fox Searchlight Finally Acquires Sundance Sound Of My Voice

By Peter Sciretta/April 20, 2011 5:04 pm EST I’m really shocked that it took this long for the film to be picked up. While the movie was shot on a microbudget with no stars, I believe it is filled with franchise and viral marketing possibilities (it is the first part of a planned trilogy, seriously…). I still think they need to change the horrible title. I’m very happy to see the film end up at Searchlight, as it is a good fit for the company....

Joel Schumacher Directing The Hive

Joel Schumacher Directing ‘The Hive’ By Russ Fischer/April 25, 2011 1:00 pm EST It’s been a rough few years for Joel Schumacher — rougher than most for the director who is often lambasted for his Batman films, regardless of the fact that he’s made a couple of solid pictures since then. He bombed with the Jim Carrey film The Number 23 in 2007, then saw Blood Creek dumped in dollar theaters, and Twelve was critically savaged as one of the worst films of 2010....

By Germain Lussier/Sept. 25, 2012 1:00 pm EST Joel Silver’s producing resume reads like a laundry list of the best (or at least biggest) action films of the past three decades: Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, 48 Hours, Predator, Demolition Man, The Matrix, Sherlock Holmes and on and on. Many of those, especially over the past twenty years, were at Warner Bros. where his Silver Pictures had a lucrative producing deal and spot on the lot....

Lol Bad Lip Reading S Version Of Twilight Improves On The Dialogue

LOL: Bad Lip Reading’s Version Of ‘Twilight’ Improves On The Dialogue By Angie Han/Sept. 6, 2012 5:00 am EST Those in the anti-Twilight camp can come up with a million and one reasons to hate the series in about five sconds, but even those who don’t out-and-out loathe it have to groan at some of the franchise’s more painfully overwritten dialogue. I remember going to see the first film with a friend who lived for girly, romantic movies, and even she couldn’t help but laugh at Robert Pattinson’s mortified reading of “And so the lion fell in love with the lamb....

Lol Damon Lindeloff Explains Inception Ending

LOL: Damon Lindeloff Explains Inception Ending By Peter Sciretta/July 20, 2010 7:00 am EST Judging by the online discussions I’ve read over the weekend, I’m starting to feel like I’m the only person who not only understood Christopher Nolan’s Inception, but thought it was pretty straight-forward. Yes, even the ending. For those of you confused about the film, and more specifically, the film’s ending, I bring you this: Who better to explain the film’s ending than Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof?...

Paramount And Bad Robot Teaming For Nazi-Hunting Thriller ‘Wunderkind’ By Angie Han/June 12, 2012 9:30 am EST The relationship between Paramount and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot has proven to be a fruitful one over the years, resulting in such successes as Cloverfield, Star Trek, Super 8, and the last two Mission: Impossible movies, and the companies aren’t planning to part ways any time soon. Earlier this year, Bad Robot renewed its first-look deal with Paramount through the end of 2015, and they’re making the most of it....

Paul Greengrass To Direct Travis Mcgee

Paul Greengrass To Direct ‘Travis McGee’? By Russ Fischer/April 25, 2011 4:43 pm EST Paul Greengrass has a pretty interesting career — he tends to flip between overtly social/political films and more pulpy material, but even his action films have a level of political awareness. Lately he’s had some trouble getting a movie made at all, with Universal passing on his MLK film Memphis, and the King estate reportedly not so much in love with the script....

Middle-earth wouldn’t be the first place I’d think of to fashion a theme park around, but that’s not stopping Universal Studios from considering the idea. VOTD: Pure, A Rockin’ High-Testosterone Action Movie Montage By Russ Fischer/June 7, 2010 12:00 am EST Over the past few years we’ve seen a lot of montages, re-edits and remixes based on footage from popular movies, and popular action movies in particular.
