On producing At the Mountains of Madness for Guillermo del Toro: Cameron and del Toro have been friends for a while, and Cameron asked if GdT was still thinking of doing Mountains....
Jessica Biel May Not Be In ‘The Wolverine’ After All By Russ Fischer/July 18, 2012 9:00 am EST Briefly: Just as Comic Con kicked off, we heard that Jessica Biel was set to take a role in James Mangold’s The Wolverine. She was said to be in talks to play Viper, but it looks like that isn’t going to happen. At Comic Con, Biel told HitFix that the casting wasn’t a done deal....
Marvel Developing Short Films? Could The Live Action Short Film Return To Movie Theaters? By Peter Sciretta/June 21, 2010 1:57 am EST In April, I recorded a video blog with Steve from Collider in which we discussed the future of Marvel feature films. In the video, Steve pitched the concept of a live-action television series called Marvel Heroes where the comic turned movie studio could introduce third tier comic book superheros to mainstream audiences....
Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Powerful Performance In ‘Smashed’ Is A Must See [Sundance 2012] By Peter Sciretta/Jan. 23, 2012 3:30 pm EST Filmmaker James Ponsoldt’s feature debut Off The Black premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006. It was met with a lackluster response, but everyone seemed to praise the performances despite the troubled screenplay. After seeing last year’s heavily buzzed-about film Like Crazy, Mary Elizabeth Winstead contacted producer Jonathan Schwartz and Andrea Sperling because she wanted to be in a film like the one they produced....
Matthew Lillard In Talks For Clint Eastwood’s ‘Trouble With The Curve’ By Angie Han/Jan. 18, 2012 5:00 am EST It’s probably a bit soon to celebrate Matthew Lillard’s unlikely rise as a dramatic actor, but it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on his career for now. After a small but impressive turn opposite George Clooney in Alexander Payne’s The Descendants, the former Scooby-Doo star has now entered talks for another promising dramatic role, this time opposite Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams in Robert Lorenz’ Trouble With the Curve....
Mia Wasikowska In Talks For ‘Stoker,’ From ‘Oldboy’ Director Park Chan-Wook By Russ Fischer/Jan. 27, 2011 8:06 pm EST Last year Park Chan-wook was attached to direct with Carey Mulligan in the lead and Jodie Foster in a key supporting role. Now both actresses have moved on, but it looks like Mia Wasikowska will have the lead when the film shoots this spring. Deadline has the news but doesn’t go into detail about the departures of Mulligan and Foster....
Mike Tyson’s Tattoo Artist Sues To Halt Release Of ‘The Hangover Part II’ By Germain Lussier/April 29, 2011 2:16 pm EST Usually it’s ink on a page that can make or break a movie, not ink on a face. In the case of The Hangover Part II though, the tattoo on Ed Helms’ face could pose yet another problem for the sure-to-be blockbuster sequel. S. Victor Whitmill, the man who designed Mike Tyson’s famous face tattoo which the film is obviously referencing, is asking for an injunction that would stop Warner Bros....
New Star Wars Wars Audio Mix Created, 3D Re-Release Still Coming? By Russ Fischer/July 5, 2010 12:30 pm EST We’ve had more than an unsubstantiated inkling that a 3D re-release of the original Star Wars trilogy might be coming to theaters in the next couple years. George Lucas talked about 3D conversion in 2008, saying that it worked, but wasn’t practical. Earlier this year Lucas said that Avatar’s tech could be the push LucasFilm needed to do the conversion....

Red Band Movie Trailer: ‘Friends With Benefits’ By Peter Sciretta/Nov. 5, 2010 3:00 pm EST Yesterday we posted the movie trailer for Ghostbusters/Meatballs director Ivan Reitman’s new comedy No Strings Attached starring Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman. The film actually started out with another title, Fuckbuddies. Of course, Paramount didn’t want to face the problems associated with releasing a movie under that title, so they changed it to Friends With Benefits, which eventually got changed into the truly horrible title No Strings Attached (at least they didn’t go with “No Strings”, the abbreviated title they were testing)....

Showgirls Exposed Director Defends His Film As Art By Russ Fischer/June 7, 2010 8:53 am EST The first trailer for Showgirls Exposed, the sequel to Paul Verhoeven’s camp 1995 film, drew no few snickers and chuckles when it hit the internet a few months ago. Last Friday, Twitch posted a second trailer, with the title “My Eyes Can Stand No More Than Four Minutes Of Marc Vorlander’s SHOWGIRLS: EXPOSED.” It isn’t difficult to see why Twitch couldn’t take much more: the footage looks terrible....

Today at the festival I came across a promotional teaser poster for the film, which will begin shooting in June. Check out the full teaser poster now, after the jump. Terry Gilliam’s ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’ Undergoes Further Changes By Russ Fischer/June 29, 2010 11:42 am EST Terry Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote has undergone quite a few changes. Since Gilliam first attempted to shoot the film in 2000 with Johnny Depp and Jean Rochefort, the project has been put on hold, recast (with Ewan McGregor and Robert Duvall) and undergone at least one rewrite. We’d previously heard that the rewrite had changed some small things, like the name and occupation of the main character....

Pray though, that it doesn’t remind you of yourself....

The company, founded by Kubick’s son in law Philip Hobbs, and Steve Lanning, had big plans for some of the material, with hopes for a $100m feature based on Downslope, a massive Civil War drama....
VOTD: Pixar-Style ‘Rocketeer’ Short Film By Germain Lussier/June 27, 2011 3:00 pm EST Hard to believe that Disney’s live-action period action film The Rocketeer was released two decades ago. The film has come back into the public conscious a bit recently because of the anniversary, its director Joe Johnston doing another period action film (Captain America: The First Avenger) and some recent screenings including one in Hollywood with Kevin Smith hosting a Q&A....
